From daytime maintenance services to an Earth
Day celebration, DID maintenance programs have successfully
kept Downtown Dallas clean and attractive.
THE CLEAN TEAM
In January 1999, DID rolled out the Clean Team to provide
daily litter control and light maintenance in public areas
throughout Downtown. Since operations began, the nine-member
uniformed crew has collected over 76,000 bags of litter and
removed more than 16,000 pieces of graffiti. The Clean Team
works in conjunction with and offers assistance to the City
of Dallas Streets, Sanitation, Code Enforcement and Park &
Recreation departments.
OTHER DID MAINTENANCE PROGRAMS
- Downtown benefits from DIDs supplemental programs
such as additional mowing in the right-of-way along Woodall
Rodgers, weed control, trash container repairs, Sunday trash
collection in the West End and sidewalk powerwashing in
major pedestrian areas.
- EarthFest, an annual corporate clean-up and festival commemorating
Earth Day, is sponsored by DID, the City of Dallas and Keep
Dallas Beautiful. Over 700 Downtown employees plant trees
and flowers, paint light standards, remove graffiti and
pick up litter.
- Decorative banners dress up street poles along major thoroughfares
throughout Downtown.
- A seasonal color program and park projects in public areas
add desirable greenspace for employees, visitors and residents alike.
