Downtown Parks

DOWNTOWNDALLAS has played an integral role in the renovation of Founders Square Park, Cancer Survivors Plaza, Pegasus Plaza, Pioneer Plaza, Dealey Plaza and Ferris Plaza. In 2007, DOWNTOWNDALLAS committed $1.25 million for new and existing Downtown parks. The commitment included funding for Main Street Garden, Belo Garden, Woodall Rogers Park and Pacific Plaza. The commitment also included funding for the renovation of Dealey Plaza and Founder’s Square Park.

Main Street Garden — Opening in November 2009, Main Street Garden will include garden rooms for relaxing, a dog run, a toddler play area, a beautiful interactive fountain, a kiosk for food and beverage and a very large lawn area for special events and activities. Main Street Garden is located the 1800 block of Main Street.

Belo Garden — Scheduled to begin construction in 2009, Belo Garden is an oasis in the heart of the City with beautiful landscape, fountains and trees. The site for Belo Garden is currently a parking lot bordered by Main Street, Griffin, Commerce and Murphy’s Crossing.

Pacific Plaza — Scheduled to begin design in 2008, Pacific Plaza has been identified as a large gathering place for grand special events in Downtown. The Pacific Plaza site is also currently a parking lot bounded by St. Paul, Live Oak and Harwood, directly adjacent to Patriot Tower.

Woodall Rodgers Park — With a groundbreaking ceremony on September 14, 2009, Woodall Rodgers Park will connect the Central Business District, Uptown and Victory Park. The 5.2 acre park will be constructed on top of Woodall Rodgers Freeway between Pearl and St. Paul Streets and will include playgrounds, a dog park, cafés, beautiful gardens, outdoor performance stages, fountains and sculptures.

Dallas Center for the Performing Arts Performance Park — Opening October 2009, Performance Park is a new, 10-acre public park that will embrace and unify the four new venues of the Dallas Center for the Performing Arts. This will be the first public park in the Dallas Arts District .
