Office Recruitment and Retention- DOWNTOWNDALLAS and the City of Dallas have begun to develop a strategy to aggressively address the issues of retaining existing office tenants and attracting new office tenants to the CBD.
2006 Bond Program— DOWNTOWNDALLAS monitors the progress of the city’s implementation of the 2006 bond program, the largest in the City’s history. Activity in 2008 includes the following highlights:
- Design contracts have been awarded for the Boulevard System which will complete the linking of thoroughfares with significant landscaping along Central, Pearl and Routh.
- Design contracts have been awarded for streetscape improvements along portions of Akard and Main.
- Design contracts have been awarded for converting one-way streets to two-way (Akard, Federal, Field, Houston, and Live Oak).
- Site development for Main Street Gardens Park is well underway.
- Most of the street resurfacing projects in the Expanded Downtown area will be completed by this fall.

Street Vending — Working with DART; Dallas Center for the Performing Arts; and the West End Association, DOWNTOWNDALLAS has drafted changes to the city’s street vending codes which will allow stakeholders in the CBD to have more input into the way street vending is conducted and make it easier for entrepreneurs to get street vending licenses.
Right-of-Way Licensing — With input from a variety of stakeholders, DOWNTOWNDALLAS has drafted changes to the various city codes to make it easier for businesses to license city right-of-way for amenities that contribute to the vibrancy of street life.
