Downtown Dallas, Inc. launched the Clean Team in 1999 to provide a team that focuses on keeping the public space free of litter and graffiti. Since the inception of the program, the Clean Team has expanded to a 13 member crew that works seven days a week and is armed with a fleet of sidewalk vacuum sweepers, a water truck, push carts, brooms, dust pans and graffiti remover.
Over the years, the Clean Team has also expanded it services and support to include:
- Recycling collection
- Tree well upgrades
- Tree planting and watering
- Trash can repair
- Special event set-up and clean up
- Weed control
- Special projects
- EarthFest coordination
- Waterboy — our very own Downtown watering truck!
Clean Team members have removed over 100,000 bags of litter and over 25,000 pieces of graffiti from the public space in the Central Business District. Because of the hard work performed by the Clean Team, the number one compliment given by Downtown workers, visitors and residents is on the cleanliness of Downtown streets and sidewalks.
The Downtown Dallas, Inc. Clean Team offices are located in the Downtown Dallas, Inc. Operations Center at 211 S. Akard Street, Suite 130, directly across Commerce Street from the Adolphus Hotel. AT&T generously donates this space for use by the Clean Team.
