    Residents Council

The Resident's Council is a group of Downtown residents who wish to make their neighborhood feel more like a community.  The council holds quarterly meetings that are open to the public and include topics that range from safety to beautification projects.  The council is governed by the Resident's Council Committee, chaired by resident Steve Sheperd, which consists of appointed representatives from many of the Downtown properties, both leased and owned.  The Committee is responsible for setting the agenda for meetings, addressing issues and concerns raised by the Resident's Council and planning community activities and volunteer opportunities for the Resident's Council.

    Committee Objectives:

A group of 14 volunteer downtown residents from various residential properties who hope to

    • Provide a platform for residents  to be heard
    • Give the residents a voice as one group – instead of fragmented individuals
    • Establish subcommittees of Residents Council members dealing with Safety, Policy and Advocacy, Council Activities and Volunteering, Family Activities and Neighborhood Beautification
    • Promote downtown as a neighborhood and a great place to live, work and play by spreading our personal experience of downtown living
    • Bring issues to the forefront at City Hall on behalf of the residents
    • Represent the people who keep the lights on downtown after 5:00 pm

The Council plays an important role in shaping Downtown by being some of the leading advocates in Downtown, taking their concerns before the City Council, city leaders and other Downtown stakeholders to ensure changes are made to accommodate the residential community of the Downtown that continues to grow exponentially.
